Photographing Sand Dunes in Death Valley

DSC_2125m
This year I went to Death Valley for the first time and it was my first time walking on real desert sand dunes. Even though it was early April, the heat was almost unbearable during the day and walking around these dunes can be exhausting and cause dehydration very fast, especially if you are carrying your equipment. The dunes here are really taller then they seem and I was so excited about being there that I wanted to go further and find more angles to shoot from but I didn’t have enough water with me so decided to play it safe. Now that I’ve had this first experience, next time I’ll be better prepared so I can spend more time in this amazing place. For this shot I used my 80-200mm zoom because I wanted to bring the rugged mountains in the background closer and contrast them against the softness of the dunes.
